About Sheffield Shamblers

A Walking Group For All

Do you enjoy walking but want to do this at a leisurely pace?

Fed up with walking groups that want to beat the clock over the distance of the walk?

Or maybe you are new to walking and fear that you won’t be able to keep up with experienced walkers?

Then come and join the SHEFFIELD SHAMBLERS WALKING GROUP!

We are a group of people of all ages and from every walk of life who enjoy walking and having a good time. Pleasant company and a good sense of humour is essential on all our walks. If you are looking for formal walks organised with military precision and strict codes of conduct, then this club is not for you!

Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead at all times.

The best way to describe what the Shamblers is Sociable Walking for Sociable People

The Shamblers has been an active community group for over 13 years, supporting many, many people, encouraging walking as a way to keep fit, remain healthy, and helping with mental health issues.

Our Wednesday health walks around Chapeltown have been extremely popular and well attended over the years. Many of those joining on these walks have been pensioners, a lot of whom live on their own. The gentle Wednesday walk, along with coffee (or something stronger!!) afterwards has been an opportunity for them to socialise and find friends.

We are disgusted that this heartless government has taken away pensioners winter fuel allowance, which will cause worry and distress to those who walk with us and many other pensioners in Chapeltown and surrounding areas. Therefore we shall be waiving our £5.00 registration fee for any pensioners who want to join the Shamblers over the next six months. Any pensioner, on production of their bus pass, can join us absolutely free

Our action seems very small when many older people will be facing real distress this winter but it is what we can do to show we care about those older, less well off people in our community.
